DIY Christmas Candy Cane Soap

Having made a bunch of homemade glycerin soap over the course of summer, I can definitely tell you it was a ton of fun. Taking of advantage of some spare glycerin to make this batch of DIY Christmas Candy Cane Soap was a no brainer. The uses for this are literally endless. Stocking stuffers, gifts for teachers, instructors – so on – they’re all great uses :-) What I did here was very simple. I merely bought a bag of glycerin (check your local craft or health food store) melted them down, added some colorant and whatever fragrance you feel like, then pour them into molds. It’s really simple to do, but the results are quite stunning.

I can’t claim to be an expert when it comes to soap. You can see from the picture above, it’s not perfect – the lines are kind of swirly – whereas solid lines would match the Christmas candy cane theme better. I’m not sure how to do that to be perfectly honest, and still have the layers stick together when the soap is completed. I was kind of afraid that if I let each layer dry out before adding the next, then once I removed the soap from the mold the layers wouldn’t stick and actually fall apart when I cut them into soap bars. Which would be the end of this amazing DIY Christmas candy cane soaps :-) That’s why I didn’t let each layer set before I commenced with the next one. If you know a way around this, I would love it it you left me a comment below.
