DIY Simple Citrus and Herb Soap
I have a simple DIY Citrus and Herb Soap recipe for you! Get a final glimpse of summer with these delicious smelling herbal soaps. Although Fall is my favorite season and I love that pumpkin smell, the citrus smell in this soap is still one of my favorite scents, even though I can’t wait to break out my autumn clothes and make something with pumpkin in it! 😉 There’s just something delightful about the smell of citrus in the summer, especially when it’s in a organic soap and it’s homemade!
This Citrus and Herb soap recipe make great gifts because they’re so easy to customize. You could melt them into any shape you like – I melted mine into sun, lemon and ice cream cone shapes for Mother’s Day. My Mother loved it and used it on her vacation!
Ingredients for your DIY Simple Citrus and Herb Soap
- Citrus fruits (Lemons, Limes, or Grapefruits)
- Fresh herbs of your choice (We recommend basil, mint and rosemary)
- Soap mold (any silicone mold will work but you can grease up some glass bowls instead)
- Glycerin melt and pour soap
- A food processor
Using citrus on your skin is an easy way to keep your skin healthy. Using Lemon can help lighten your skin however I recommend using Limes. Limes can help to prevent acne, remove dead skin, prevent ageing, treat sunburn and even prevent vertigo. Lime also effectively removes dirt and oil, treats dandruff and prevents hair loss. Fruit are miracle workers for your health which is why I use them in most of my products.
However, I believe this herbal soap isn’t complete without the herbs themselves. Basil can help protect against insect bites. It also works very well on eczema, acne and pimples due to it’s anti-inflammatory properties. In addition it contains anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidants which make Basil work perfectly as a moisturizer.
Mint smells delicious and even prevent pimples. The smell of this herb calms the senses and using it on the skin helps to treat wounds and rashes. Another benefit of mint is that it contains a nutrient called perillyl alcohol. Studies show that it may prevent the formation of skin cancer cells which is nothing but good news.
Using Rosemary in this DIY Citrus and Herb soap recipe can help to prevent skin ageing and even treat acne with it’s powerful disinfectant and antibiotic compounds! It can even reduce swelling and reduce the puffiness of the skin. I use herbs on all my children’s skin as they are truly amazing.
I hope you enjoy this homemade herbal soap as much as I did. Remember you can easily mix up the ingredients.
