Homes never run out of pumpkins during this time of the year as they are primarily used as Halloween décor. However, once Halloween day has passed and all the hype is gone, there is no other use for pumpkins except maybe to make a pumpkin soup or some other pumpkin recipe. Most people however will end up throwing away the pumpkins that they used as decoration.

Since it is pumpkin season every fall, you can make a great recipe out of them by making a pumpkin spice sugar body scrub. Making this fancy recipe is very easy and it takes very little time to do it. Best of all, it is quite inexpensive. So, in case you still do not have anything to give as a gift this holiday season, then you can make a bunch of these and give it out to everyone instead.

Ingredients for you Pumpkin Spice Sugar Body Scrub (good for one jar):

  • Brown Sugar (1 cup)
  • White Sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice (3 teaspoon)
  • Olive Oil (3 tablespoons)
  • Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Nutmeg (1/4 teaspoon)

Note: You can also substitute Olive oil to mild smelling oil, like almond oil or coconut oil. Also, you can add a teaspoon more of pumpkin pie spice and oil depending on your preference.

Once you have all the ingredients needed for the recipe, you can now start making your pumpkin sugar body scrub using these steps:

  1. Pour all the sugar (both brown and white) and spices on a mixing bowl.
  2. Slowly add the oil to the sugar and spices on the mixing bowl. You might need a spatula or a spoon to mix all the ingredients properly.
  3. Stir and combine all the ingredients in the bowl until it reaches the consistency of wet sand. If the mixture becomes runny, you might have added too much oil. Balance out the runny mixture with a little more sugar if necessary.

Once you are done mixing all the ingredients, you are now ready to pack what you made. For the packaging, you will need the following materials.

  • Jar or a Container
  • Baker’s Twine
  • Washi Tape
  • Tags

You can assemble the packaging is a presentable manner by pouring the mixture on a clear glass jar or any clear container. Using a glass jar however is advisable. Just cut the tags in your desired shape. You can use craft scissors for this one. You can either write a short message on the tags or just write the name of the recipe on it. You can also place a piece of scrapbook paper on the jar’s lid for a more playful and craft-like effect. Next, attach the tags you made using baker’s twine. Attach it neatly and securely to the jar of pumpkin spice sugar body scrubs. Lastly, you can use the washi tape to line the lid, giving the whole package an artistic touch. The washi tape can also be used to make a bow or a ribbon around the jar though it is always best to keep the packaging clean and simple.
